Will my graphics card fit my PC case? GPU clearance checklist

A case's advertised maximum GPU length is only a starting point. Radiators, card thickness and power-cable clearance can change the fit.

Direct answer: measure the installed configuration

Check the exact GPU's length, height and slot thickness against the case's usable dimensions with the actual fans and radiators installed. Then check room for power connectors and safe cable routing. A nominal positive length margin is not proof that the card can be installed without interference.

Open Leivro's source-linked GPU/case fit explorer →. Results are conditional unless all relevant dimensions and installation conditions are verified.

A reproducible length calculation

Suppose the manufacturer states a 355 mm GPU clearance for an empty front configuration and says a front-mounted 30 mm radiator reduces that limit by its thickness. The effective nominal length limit is 355 - 30 = 325 mm. A hypothetical 320 mm GPU would then have 325 - 320 = 5 mm of nominal length margin. This does not verify width, cables, front fans, tubing or installation access.

The method is grounded in a Fractal Design North clearance example. Other cases have different baseline dimensions and stacking rules; never apply the 355 mm figure to another model.

The five fit checks

  1. Card length: use the exact board partner's published dimension, not a generic GPU-series dimension.
  2. Case configuration: identify whether listed maximum length assumes an empty front, front fans, radiator, drive cage, support bracket or other obstruction.
  3. Height and thickness: compare the card's vertical dimension and occupied expansion slots against side panel, riser and neighboring component clearance.
  4. Power connectors: verify the exact card's power plug, your PSU/cable compatibility and the cable routing room next to the panel.
  5. Installation: inspect the motherboard, card supports, airflow and insertion route. A geometric estimate is not a substitute for physical validation.

Power-cable bend and connector safety

For compatible 12VHPWR and 12V-2x6 connectors, follow the actual GPU and PSU manufacturer's instructions. Seasonic's installation guidance calls for fully seated, latched connectors and cautions against force or bending close to the connector. Do not infer compatibility of modular PSU cables across PSU brands or models merely because a plug appears to fit.
